in the "life" exhibit there are lots of torso castings on the walls.  nobody seemed to take much notice of them.  once i noticed them, however, i could not stop looking.  every one of them was deformed, surgically altered, or mutilated in some way.  if there hadn't been children playing with science experiments all around me I might have found it really disturbing.
